June 21st FEARLESS Meeting Minutes

April FEARLESS Meeting Minutes

We were joined by several members of the ACLU program People Power whose mission is to help people with felony convictions get their civil rights restored.  It was a great conversation about our prison system and the ways we can all work to make improvements.  Attached are the handouts which share more information about the program including how to find Voter Restoration Clinics in your area.

In addition to recognizing all of our FEARLESS members for all of the struggles they go through, the First Annual Perseverance Certificate was given to a member who has shown great courage and fortitude in the 26 years she has been on the registry.

FEARLESS Meeting Feb. 15th, 2018 – Minutes

  • Our guest speaker was Cecil Ash. Here are some of the highlights…
    • Cecil began his career as a public defender and later became a member of the House of Representatives. He is currently a Justice of the Peace in Mesa.
    • Our prisons are overcrowded.
    • He doesn’t believe in private prisons.

Fearless Meetings – Update and New Location

It has been a busy few months for AZRSOL.  Our Fearless meeting had a wonderful guest speaker, John Tennant from Maricopa County Adult Probation, who spoke about the unique opportunity people on sex offender probation (which is usually a lifetime term) in Maricopa County have to modify the terms of their probation.

Fearless Support Group Meetings

We have a support group (FEARLESS)  for friends and families of Citizens on the Registry that meets in Phoenix once a month. Registrants may attend if they have been given permission by their parole/probation officer. At the support group, we discuss advocacy and legislation updates, listen to a speaker who discusses a relevant topic,
