April FEARLESS Meeting Minutes

We were joined by several members of the ACLU program People Power whose mission is to help people with felony convictions get their civil rights restored.  It was a great conversation about our prison system and the ways we can all work to make improvements.  Attached are the handouts which share more information about the program including how to find Voter Restoration Clinics in your area.

A Challenge To The ARIZONA REGISTRY

We have begun to explore the possible options for a legal challenge to the Arizona sex offender registry. An Arizona attorney hosted a meeting which was attended by 25 people. At the meeting we discussed the organization, funding, and possible legal options for this challenge. The members present were very interested in continuing this effort.

Shawna: A Life on the Sex Offender Registry

This is an article and short film (about 9 minutes) about a young mother and her struggles with being on the registry. The article also talks about a young man and his problems. Both the film and article are by David Feige, who made the documentary “Untouchable”. It is very well done and moved me to tears.
