Our speaker this month was Paul Hanley. Paul spoke about “Taking back your power through activism.” Paul is the author of five books, including Roller Coaster to Hell and Back, which describes his rehabilitation and recovery from childhood sexual abuse. Paul has spoken twice about succeeding with a sex offense on your record at Fearless meetings, and both talks were popular. Paul’s talk was a call to action for each of you to get involved at a level which makes you comfortable. He began and ended his talk with the quote “I always wished someone would do something and then I realized I was someone!”
He mentioned all of the ways AZRSOL can use your help. Please let us know how you would like to get involved in furthering our shared goals.
- There is still time to register for the NARSOL Conference and to donate items to the silent auction. Scholarship money is also available for the conference. Send us an email if you’d like to donate to the silent auction and go to conference.narsol.org for more information about the conference, scholarships and the quilt drawing.
- If you would like to buy tickets for the quilt drawing benefiting NARSOL’s legal fund, you can go directly to this link.
- For more information about the Reentry Expo by PHX Works at the Burton Barr Library, you can go here. Please let us know if you can help Pat by volunteering at a table from 2:15-5 on Tuesday April 30.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday May 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Hopefully, our location will give those of you on probation an opportunity to attend. Please check with your probation officer and let us know if your request is not approved. Our guest speaker will be Amy Love from the Arizona State Supreme Court.
