The video “Frightening and High” was sent to all state legislators. Please contact your legislators and ask if they’ve had a chance to watch the video. We can only bring about change with your support.
Coming soon… Fearless will be offered at South Unit. Several members of our group will soon be approved as regular volunteers for DOC. Hopefully, this will allow for the possibility of Fearless groups on other yards.
Fearless was the focus of the paper “Beyond Circles of Support “Fearless” – an Open Peer -to-Peer Mutual Support Group for Sex Offense Registrants and Their Family Members” (published in the International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, 2018) highlighting the value to the members of the group.
We are developing an educational presentation to bring to PTAs, therapists, law enforcement, probation, etc highlighting the facts regarding people on the registry and dispelling the myths. Our Education Coordinator can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any thoughts or suggestions.
Our November 15th meeting will be a Thanksgiving celebration with turkey and the trimmings. Please save the date and look for more information about it.
Our guest speaker was Ben Tyau, author of Exposed: My Battle with Sex Addiction and the Sobering Road to Recovery and Hope, who spoke about what led to him being a registered citizen and his struggles and success on probation and the registry. Ben shared a bit about his success in challenging some of the conditions of probation. Attached is the form and necessary instructions to file in Maricopa County. It was a great presentation filled with hope. Our group had many questions.
