Over the past few decades, sexual offense registries have grown far beyond the original intent of enabling police to track the most dangerous offenders. In a series of incremental steps, registries have been expanded, bringing more and more onerous restrictions to those who must live under their shadow. These restrictions have created a public health crisis as thousands of Arizonans face insurmountable hurdles to a successful reentry, including homelessness, poverty, social stigma, increased mental health issues and more.
AZRSOL currently addresses these issues by providing empirical research and data to policy makers and stakeholders. We launch robust social media campaigns to rehumanize offenders and combat false narratives. We teach our people to tell their stories powerfully and we encourage civic engagement to make their voices heard.
